Mariyappan Thangavelu

Mariyappan Thangavelu (born twenty eight June 1995). In the 2016 Summer Paralympic Games in Rio de Janeiro, he competed in the men’s high jump T-42 category and won the gold medal in the finals. He’s India’s 1st Paralympian gold medalist since 2004.

Early Life:

Mariyappan was born in the village of Periavadagampatti in Tamil Nadu’s Salem district. One among six youngsters (four brothers and a sister).
