• Introduction :

With the onset of the pandemic the responsibility to manage the ecosystem is high on authorities. From managing fan
expectations to deal with the organizational disruptions, managements are facing major challenges to get everything
aligned with the ecosystem of the sports events.

The ecosystem of sports consists of players, media, broadcasters, franchises and other people involved. This all has
to be taken care of; the COVID resulted in worsening of the weaker sections of the sports industry.

Major sports events like Olympics and the Union of European Football Associations, decided deal with the administration of
the sports by postponing different championships when they found that the risk of the spread of the virus is not limited to
only spectators in the stadium.

For the cricket the change is visible through how the IPL washed out and major events like the World Cup are postponed
for future. To cover up the loss, enough cash flow had to be maintained to minimize the expected loss to the weaker
sections of the sports.

The cancellation of such big events is going to cost higher to the BCCI , For instance, the cost of about rs.1500 crore has to be
returned to the Star Sports with the cancellation of the IPL .

  • The impact on administration of sports :

The challenges to meet fan expectations and to maintain sports ecosystem are faced by different sections of the sports. Various sports organizations like clubs, leagues, and sports competitions found themselves in a position to either
voluntarily or forced to cease their activities.

The crises have made organizations to rethink for the venue of the events that has to be hosted on local, national, and
international level.

The disruption has made major authorities to also think of the new organizing measures, like, how they could adapt to the
situation while planning for the future too? There is a need of proper networking to keep on track the fan experience which is
highly hindered by the situation.

With the disruption of the sports events, authorities have to reconsider their investment portfolios and cash flow, liquidity
offered to deal with the impact, especially for weaker section of the sports.

It is not an easy task to determine when and how professional sports events can be organized, but it has to be oriented
towards the timing of the contracts, and different sponsors willing to spend on a particular sport event.

The government came forward to fund the rebroadcasting of the matches which are not pay-per-view, so that local television
operators can generate some income.

The impact on administration on sports events is higher on fitness centers than that of a professional event. The major
concern of rebuilding relationships with the sponsors is of highly importance.

With the cancellation of sports events people were asked to leave their jobs. But for the broadcasters and other franchisees
related to sports events were supported by government.

Broadcasters have to now rebroadcast the events in order to cover the expected losses.

The strategy is to deal with the expected unemployment is to return the membership fees, which has to be borne by the
government. The jobs assigned to people are decided to be maintained, and continued further.

  • Conclusion :

The major question arises with the pandemic was to define a clear idea to support mini teams and multiple league by
capitalizing on remote work.

With the cancellation of major sports events, like the IPL, and famous events like FIFA , the management faced difficulties how to raise awareness, build relationships, and manage organizational structure.

The impact on the administration of sports events were majorly covered by different insurance policies, and the government
consequently saving athletes. Moreover, major sports events are lacking networking, which can help them to actually raise
awareness among the public, while there are no such events taking place.
